Cozy Italian restaurant nested in Cherry creek.. I've passed by this restaurant countless times and have always wanted to dine here- Finally made it! Started with the frito misto - calamari felt fresh. These were essentially sea food fritters and we liked them. Quantity was larger than expected. I got the gnocchi and my husband got the agnello lamb - both tasty and well made. The ultimate dish here was their cheese cake, loved how airy the cake was which tasted incredible with the lavender honey! Service was good and so was the ambiance. Every one was very well dressed which is a rare sight in Denver IYKYK.
The restaurant is beautiful but a bit loud. Our server was so sweet, very knowledgeable about every element of the menu and wine list. Each dish was gorgeously plated with soft, subtle flavors surprising you in each bite as you breathe.
What a spectacular dining experience. My husband and I came here for our 2 year wedding anniversary. We both did the tasting menu and all dishes were absolutely wonderful. The only thing I disliked was the Fritto Misto, I feel that could have been a bit more tasty, it was bland. The pasta was probably our favorite course, both the lobster pasta and the sage one were delicious. Our server recommended a bottle of Arnies wine and we are now obsessed. Service was great, our server was extremely knowledgeable and we appreciated that. Highly recommended.
Service was impeccable. We were seated in front of the fireplace which was lovely on a cold, winter day. We started with a glass of brut rose which was delicious. We then split the Radish Salad, Gnocchi with crab, and Beef tenderloin (with a glass of red wine, of course). This particular beef presentation has been my favorite from all the times I have ordered it over the years here (grilled beef tenderloin, crispy polenta, roasted hen-of-the-woods mushroom, balsamic-braised cipollini onion, truffle demi-glace) -- it melted in your mouth. Lastly, their crème brule is the best in the city so of course we had to split that delicious ending to the meal. All in all - fabulous experience, fabulous service, fabulous food. Highly recommend.
WHAT and experience! My husband and I were a little scared looking at the prices, expecting a food salad of words in the menu but no substance. How wrong were we! Don't get me wrong- they grab you by the pocket book but every bit, every sip, every smell is worth it! After 21 years together my husband surprised me with a food and wine pairing experience. What an experience this was! Every bit tickled the senses in ways I didn't know existed! Pairings of food choices I would have never thought! Not to mention a. Waitress who truly valued what she did and spoke about it passion. My husband and I both left there full, satisfied mentally and emotionally, and happy we experienced something like this. If you have the time and $$ highly recommend!
I went to Barolo Grill for dinner with some friends who highly recommended this place. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation time but we got seated right away. For appetizers, we shared Calamari and my date had a Bresaola. Both were fantastic. For entrees, I ordered the Agnolotti with brown butter sauce and my date had the Beef Tenderloin. I was seriously impressed with my agnolotti - the serving size was perfect and the flavors were on point. My date loved his beef tenderloin as well, and he can be really critical with his beef. For dessert, we had Gelato which was delicious (I just wished they didn't put my Gelato into two separate bowls). The ambiance is amazing and the service was excellent. My friends were on point in recommending this restaurant. I would love to visit again when we return to Denver.
I've been to a few Michelin Star restaurants/former Michelin Star restaurants and it's always an experience. Barolo was highly recommended to me by friends (and Yelp!) as a Michelin Star restaurant that doesn't necessarily feel like one, in a good way. I think that description hits the nail on the head. My take was that it had the service and food expected of the distinction but not necessarily the atmosphere and prices associated with it. I was all for it! First off, I need to say Melissa, our waitress, was one of the best waitresses I've ever had the pleasure of dining with. She was very personable, had great recommendations for everything, and was knowledgeable about the entire menu. If you have the pleasure to dine with Melissa as your waitress, you're in for a good time. Now, the food. Wow. Everything we ordered was amazing. You would expect for a former Michelin Star restaurant to have top-notch food and Barolo definitely delivered. I ordered the Agnello (Colorado Lamb) and all I could say was "wow" with every bite. The meat was cooked perfectly and the beet purée and golden beets complimented the meat amazingly. On top of that, the Torta di Formaggio (cheesecake with lavender honey) was the best ending to the meal I could have asked for. It was the closest thing to a perfect cheesecake I ever tasted. Finally, the cocktails we ordered were some of the best I have ever had. I know this all sounds like I may be over exaggerating but try it out for yourselves! I cannot wait for my next experience at Barolo Grill!
I have been wanting to try this restaurant for over a year, and every time I have tried, often the day of, I have not been able to get a reservation. I highly recommend booking in advance! All I can say is this was one of the most hospitable, warm and welcome I have felt coming into a restaurant of this stature in a very long time. Definitely the most welcome in Colorado. The service professionals took a real down to earth approach to storytelling and took the time to ensure we were going to get the experience we were looking for. One of the first things our incredible bartender, Storm, did was ask us about dietary restrictions and food allergies. I appreciated being asked before the drinks were discussed because I have an allergy to grapes and cannot indulge in wine. For our meal we ordered two dishes from the starters/antipasti section, then we decided because the food was so delicious, to share a tasting menu that way we could get a wider variety and see what we'd like to order on our next visit. The ambiance was different in that the music playing was very transient, kind-of reminiscent of what you would expect in a trendy European-style hotel, while the lighting and decor matched that of a classy Italian restaurant with cozy nooks and eloquent reading corners. What I liked the most was the many separated rooms this restaurant utilized to make the experience feel like I was dining in someone's home and enjoying a home-cooked meal. While these did contrast, overall it somehow worked. The cocktails we ordered were some of the best I have ever had, specifically the strawberry-campari-mezcal riff on a negroni that was so well made. The bitter campari married beautifully with their espadín mezcal with the bright strawberry flavor acting as a blending agent. We later learned this was bartender, Storm's, newest creation. Really a job well done. Barolo grill is an approachable restaurant that can appeal to many audiences and age groups, as long as they are comfortable with a longer (several courses) dining experience than other restaurants nearby. Perfect for private parties, date nights, special occasions and after-work cocktails/small plates. Kerry, the manager also was gracious enough to stop by and thank us for choosing to spend our date night alongside his team. Grazie mille!!! We can't wait to come back and try more!
I was excited to hear that they are farm-to-table, and they go to Italy every year to get inspired. The inspiration shows in the food. The ambiance was nice, people were dressed up, rare for Denver, the decor was elegant yet simple, which is what I love, it's all about the food. They have a huge wine list! The service was professional, timely, and knowledgeable. Our waitress knew all the dishes, and wines and was able to suggest great pairings for me. That said, there were a few misses in the food. We started with the crudo, which was delicious, well-balanced, and a great sharing portion to kick off the meal. Insalata Primavera tasted like spring on a plate, the produce was fresh and delicious, like it was just picked. We then shared the Agnolotti del plin, which was delicate and delicious, but it came out cold. If we weren't hungry, we would have sent it back. There is no reason for pasta to be cold when it's served. Then we decided to get the veal tenderloin, this was a huge miss. It was kinda bland, overcooked, and also lukewarm. It's a shame, veal can melt in your mouth and I expected something different. I also didn't care for the presentation, it felt boring rather than creative and playful. We switched it for the duck and were not disappointed. I appreciate that the waitress was there to check in at the right time and immediately offered to switch the dish for us. Lastly, we got the chocolate olive oil cake. This desert was more beautiful than tasty. I didn't taste much olive oil in it. I would recommend this place for a fun dinner or date night, and will definitely be back. They have a few outside tables, but unfortunately 6th can be a bit noisy.
